Artistic Statement
Les Vraies Horloges sont Imparfaites ("True Clocks Are Imperfect") draws inspiration from the intricate mechanics of a clock and the interconnected systems that allow it to function. Just as every gear, spring, and component plays a vital role within a larger mechanism, the work reflects on the relationships that bind individuals together within a community.
Through layered movement, shifting formations, and moments of synchronization and disruption, the dancers embody the delicate balance between individual autonomy and collective responsibility. The work explores how communities thrive not because of perfection, but because of adaptation, cooperation, and the willingness of individuals to support one another despite their flaws.
Rather than presenting imperfection as a weakness, the piece embraces it as an essential part of human connection. Like a clock whose movement depends on the interaction of many imperfect parts, communities are sustained through difference, resilience, and shared purpose.
