Artistic Statement

On Edge is a personal reflection on transformation, growth, and the uncertainty that accompanies change. Created during Abdul Sanz's final year at Hofstra University, the work serves as both a culmination of four years of artistic development and a meditation on the transition into a new chapter of life.

The solo explores the emotional landscape of standing between what has been and what is yet to come. Through moments of vulnerability, strength, hesitation, and release, the choreography reflects the challenges, discoveries, and relationships that shaped Abdul's journey as both an artist and an individual.

While deeply personal, On Edge speaks to a universal experience: the feeling of standing at the threshold of change. It is a celebration of growth, an acknowledgment of uncertainty, and an expression of gratitude for the people and experiences that leave lasting marks on who we become.
